Welcome to the Starbucks Family, Russia

September 7, 2007 at 10:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

We usually chronicle Starbucks alternatives rather than S-bux itself, but the newest Green Monster caught our eye: It's opened in Russia.

After trying to crack the market for years, Starbucks finally opened its shop in a mall outside of Moscow, and a downtown location is in the works. The drinks will be the same as you get anywhere else, but a spokeswoman tells The New York Times that sandwiches and baked goods will be local: Look for the mushroom and cheese sandwich in Russian shops.

With the newest cafe, Starbucks has now infiltrated 43 countries. By our count, that leaves 150 new markets just waiting to be cracked. Yay, homogenization!
