JetBlue To Charge For Headsets

August 31, 2007 at 2:52 PM | by | Comments (8)

One of the nice things about flying JetBlue--when you're on the 63% of flights that are on time, that is--is the free headsets. It's like a little housewarming gift before your flight. And the flight attendants are always so happy when they're handing them out: It's so easy to pacify these passengers with headphones!

Well, the fun times are over. With the company still bleeding cash from its new Customer Bill of Rights--and a stock price well below last January's high--something had to give. Starting sometime this fall or winter, those headsets will be at least $2. And don't expect any free pillows, either: a pack with a pillow, blanket and eye mask will be $5.

Sure, we usually have our own headphones and carry a jacket onboard. But don't tell us you've never forgotten your amenities just to have JB save the day. Ah, those were the days.

Would you mind sharing your sources for this information? I haven't heard anything about this.

In an interview with Bloomberg News...

CEO Dave Barger spilled the beans. One reason you might not have heard about it is because the news came out on the Friday afternoon before Labor Day--a notoriously good time to keep bad news hush-hush and out of the news cycle.

New Fees

Cool...is it from an article somewhere or do you know where Dave announced this?

Headset Charge

Nevermind I just found an article. That is too bad.

Whats next in fees?

Could you provide me with a link as would like to read that story.

$2 whats next!

Wish JB would let you see the seating chart BEFORE you make payment nothing worse than getting the last seat in the last row etc or middle ones.

Most others let you take a look before purchase like virgin atlantic!!

Does Vigrin Atlantic charge for headphones

Virgin America on August 10th...

headphones were free from SFO to JFK that night -- though this was only the airlines second day of operation.
