Qantas Messes With Its Kangaroo

Where: Australia

It all began when the Airbus A380 got a new panel: the Qantas flying kangaroo logo had to be redesigned, since there were now some parts of the panel that weren't allowed to be painted. A few weeks of nervousness followed as some people thought the kangaroo would be taken away forever.

But the result--especially for the A$5 million cost of changing the logo--is surprisingly, well, subtle. Yet reactions haven't been too good: now the feet are too prominent (and too big for an aircraft), and we think the head looks more like a reindeer than a roo. If only they'd gone for our idea: the head of a baby joey sticking out of the pouch. At least they would have won on the cute factor.

But hey, it could have been worse, at least Qantas didn't circumcise their tail widget, right?
