Canadian Tourists Take Advantage of Weak Dollar and Speedo Tolerance
No one loves America's Honky-Tonk beach towns like Canadian tourists. In Old Orchard Beach Maine most motels, with names like the Alouette and Kebek Deux, fly the Canadian flag. This summer, Candian tourist hot spots like OOB are hopping like never before. Why? Blame the loonie.
The loonie and the greenback are practically equal in value, and gasoline is currently $1 cheaper in the U.S. than up north. Canadians are famously unfazed by the cold water temperatures in the Northeast and enjoy the nightly festivus put on by most Honky-Tonk beach towns. How can you tell a Canadian tourist in the wild? Their speedos are dead give away.
