Shopping in SoCal: The Palm Springs Outlet Centers

Where: Seminole Drive [map], Cabazon, CA, United States, 92230
July 17, 2007 at 3:32 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The designer outlets in Palm Springs are definitely worth a stop on our Shopping in SoCal map. Palm Springs is a bit of a drive away but luckily there are so many good stores here that you will need an entire weekend to get through them all.

One stop is Cabazon Outlets and the other is The Desert Hills Premium Outlets just next door (which coincidentally is affiliated with the Camarillo center we profiled last week.)

Cabazon is smaller and has the basic outlet stores you would see when outlets became the rage in the early 1990s like Adidas, Sunglass Hut, Reebok and a Le Creuset. However, this place does have a Crate & Barrel outlet which is probably worth it if your doing an overhaul of your kitchen.

But the real outlet center to spend your time and money in is the Desert Hills Premium Outlets. Our reasons why after the jump.

MORE

Desert Hills has a bunch of our favorite designer stores---a Barney's New York Outlet, Theory, Juicy Couture, BCBG, Escada, Armani, Gucci, Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent and Dress Barn. (Ok, not Dress Barn.) If you ever wanted a Gucci or Bottega bag/wallet but didn't want to pay Neiman Marcus prices than you can usually find something here on discount. Keep in mind that designer discounts still don't look like the prices at Target.

There's also an Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet (which we found to be a bit sub-par on our visit) and a True Religion store plus a handful of specialty stores--Judith Leiber, Bose, Kipling Luggage, and Kate Spade--and a food court.

Best of all, parking is free and the only problem you will have is finding a spot that's not too far away from all the stores. But in the end, you will probably have to repark your car a couple of times, so you don't have to lug all your purchases across the entire parking lot.

INSIDER TIP:
If you are driving from L.A. it's quite a trip--two hours without traffic which like never happens. The 10 freeway is brutal.

We suggest staying overnight to get the most out of your weekend. The nearby Korakia Pensione Inn is offering half-off room rates until August 30th.
