Surf Surprise: Hang Ten in the UK

July 17, 2007 at 9:35 AM | by amandak | 0 Comments

When we think surfing, Hawaii or maybe Australia spring to mind. But Britain? How could you go surfing in a country that just has rain, overcast skies and bad food?

British surf expert Alex Wade definitely begs to differ, and as well as running a regular British surf blog, he also wrote a book called Surf Nation, which makes the case for taking a surfing break in Britain and Ireland. Apparently, the southwest corner of Cornwall is the best spot, but there are great hidden surf beaches all over the place. He even claims there are half a million regular surfers in the UK, so they obviously do more than sip tea and eat scones over there.
