Most Missed in Milwaukee

It's pretty good to be a Milwaukeean right now. The Brewers are in the midst of their best season since 1987 with 25W, 11L, and Wisconsin's former governor is running for President (even if he is crashing and burning). And now that the news is out that a local TV anchor is dating former "American Idol" champion Taylor Hicks, all the Brews of Brewville will be trying to spot him at Summerfest, the yearly music festival which runs for eleven days at the end of June. Will Taylor lean toward "Grey's Anatomy" favorites The Fray, local boys the Violent Femmes or apparently-still-together '80s hitmakers Arrested Development? Or maybe he'll be partying at one of these places:

Most Missed Milwaukee Is This Way.

Riverhorse Bar -- Riverwest is Milwaukee's next hip neighborhood (its Williamsburg or Bushwick, perhaps?) and a great place to stop over and drink some beers at the Arte Nouveau-style bar before catching a show at local rock club Mad Planet. 701 E. Center St.

Trocadero -- Serving award-winning Bloody Marys by day and Jaeger bombs by night, this bar and restaurant throws a Red Light party Thursdays and Sundays with a D.J. and and drink specials. (But why would they pick red? Everyone knows green means GO.) 1758 N. Water St.

Monkey Bar -- Perhaps not the right place to meet a creationism enthusiast, but $1 and $2 specials during the 3-8pm happy hours should help you forget about the giant stuffed gorilla lurking in the shadows. Or as one bartender put it, "You come here, you might as well be prepared to get hammered." 1517 S. 2nd St.
