JetBlue Frustration Continues, Could This Be The Start Of Airline 2.0?
Let's face it, JetBlue is in the midst of a tough year. The company has endured a pop up terminal at JFK, suffered multiple bouts of crazy delays during the winter storm season, lost their Founder/CEO, and now, as we enter the frenetic summer travel season, it appears JetBlue is wearing on even its most ardent supporters--JetBlue loyalists. Fred Wilson, a prominent New York venture capitalist, and an ardent JetBlue supporter, blogged the following this weekend:
It's 7am on a sturday [sic] morning at JFK and the Jet Blue terminal is mobbed. People sleeping everywhere. Congestion in the walkways and retail locations.
It's been this way every time I've been here in the past year. It wears on you.
I sure hope the new terminal gets done quickly because at least in NYC, Jet Blue has gotten too big for its britches.
Thus far JetBlue has been able to hang on to its loyal customer base despite challenges from Delta's Song (remember them?) and other independents, however, with well funded new competitors hitting the market--nipping at JetBlue's customers from above and below, and old dogs like Delta learning new tricks, could JetBlue be about to enter their Steve-Jobs-leaves-Apple phase?
