Jordin Sparks Makes Glendale The New Idolville
May 24, 2007 at 8:51 AM | 0 Comments

Come out from underneath your soundproofed rock! "American Idol" is over and we've given up hope that Sanjaya could somehow be un-kicked off at the 11th hour. The champion, one Jordin Sparks, is at 17 the youngest "Idol" winner ever and a plus-size model who has sung with Alice Cooper. She was something of a surprise winner after former back-up singer Melinda Doolittle was voted off last week, but first caught the eye of the judges with her performance of "I (Who Have Nothing)" in Week 2.
Sparks was born in Staten Island, but hangs her hat in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix best known as the home of Super Bowl XLII, which will be played there on February 3, 2008. If you are going to Glendale, check out Deer Valley Rock Art Center, a primarily outdoor museum showcasing and protecting a set of petroglyphs and pictographs. And for a taste of the region's history, then speed into the 20th century at the Speed Street Indoor Racetrack, where Ms. Sparks will surely be doing the national anthem one of these days.
