Liveblogging Skybus Launch: Skybus Video Tour

All leather seats, a new plane smell, and the configuration did not seem drastically out of whack. The flight was not full, so there was a middle seat buffer in play during our flight.

As promised, there is no in-flight entertainment and opportunities for you to spend money on everything from food to t-shirts are tossed your way throughout the flight.

Not sure passengers will want to fly across the U.S. in these planes, unless you snag a $10 ticket on each leg of your flight, but for short flights they should be fine, as long as they stay relatively grot free.

    Even Greyhound's drivers wear collared shirts

    Eh, was that the flight attendant in the black T-shirt standing in the galley?  And towards the end, the guy coming out of the cockpit in the polo shirt--is he your captain?

    Yes and Not Sure

    Black T-shirt FA, named Fritz, was indeed in the galley.  As for the polo captain.  Possibly, but I didn't get a good look.  The dress code for employess is def. casual though.

    Wow, that *is* casual

    And I thought polos on FA's was the height of casual.  Skybus is going to make Southwest look like Emirates.

    (BTW, what did Fritz have on his T--a third-party ad?-)

    How was the selling handled--the watch/perfume/t-shirt selling that we've heard is part of the flight attendant's salary (10% commission split across the crew).  Heavy-handed Attention-K-mart-Shoppers PA announcements every 10 minutes?    Or, cotton-candy-vendor-at-the-ballpark barking up and down the aisle?  Or something else?  Was it grating, or fun?
