BA Explodes Curries Mid-Air

Giving a pretty poor reflection on the taste factor of airline food, British Airways has admitted that many cabin crew members prefer to bring their own meals from home. This admission was made after a flight attendant managed to destroy a microwave oven and start a small fire with the help of her exploding curry.

Apparently, microwave ovens on airplanes are twice as powerful as the microwave we might have in our kitchen, so special packaging is required to avoid mid-air explosions. And British Airways staff have now been banned from heating their own food up during flights.

BA was very quick to say that during what they describe as "the microwave incident",

at no time was there any danger to passengers or the aircraft.

Luckily, the only danger this time round was to the curry--and the budget, since repairs cost £20,000. But if an airline as reputable as BA has only just realised their staff shouldn't put just anything in the microwave, we wonder what rules smaller airlines might have about this.
