Just in time for Easter, The Reaping is out today, focused on ten biblical plagues that strike a small Texas town. As you may have heard, "No one thought they could happen again. Until now..." Scary, people.
Hilary Swank takes the scene as our heroine, and we've heard thus far that the special effects are fairly good. Apparently, as the plagues continue, the ending is a bit of a letdown, but we'll let you decide that for yourself.
This one was shot all over different parts of the South, but we're going to offer you picks in just one of the cities filmed in - Austin.
Where To Stay:
Driskill Hotel
Built in 1886 by cattle baron Jesse Driskill, check in here and have the best access to the downtown scene as well as a cushy room in an elegant, historical property. You can also book their "Chef for a Day" package and take a behind-the-scenes look at one of Texas' most famous kitchens.
Where To Eat:
Guero's Taco Bar
Head to this popular South Austin taqueria for authentic tamales, tacos, flameado, and daily specials. Guero's is located in the renovated 100-year-old Central Feed and Seed building on South Congress, so you get a healthy slice of history with your margaritas as well.
Where To Stop and Smell the Flowers:
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Stroll amongst 43 acres of lush, natural wildflowers in this mammoth outdoor botanical garden. Dedicated to completely native plants, you can sign up ahead of time for one of their super-popular classes, from planting your own native garden to "Pests 101" and how to deal with them.
