Furthermore, Skybus's website lists flights out of urban areas like Boston and Seattle, but these airports are really in places like Portsmouth NH and Bellingham WA--far from their listed urban center. In Portsmouth, which is over an hour from Boston, Skybus is flying out of Pease, which lists Pan Am as one of their "operating airlines"--yeah.
While some of the Skybus ports--Ft. Lauderdale, Oakland, and Burbank--are not only acceptable, but also preferred, it will be interesting to see if this airline will offer convenience and deep discounts, or headaches and inconvenience, for point to point flyers in the U.S.
One more thing, some of the SkyBus "rules of flying" are kind of out there:
·No real in-flight entertainment--Skybus Suggests you bring a book.
·The first two bags are 5 bucks apiece. After that, it's $50 a bag.
·No phone number, just a website.
So we drive all the to Portsmouth, you tell us our flight is delayed, or worse cancelled, and we have to find WiFi at the archaic Pease airport in order to rebook? Better hope PortsmouthWiFi has a hot spot out there.
