Super World Travelers: Yachting With the Stars Aboard the S.S. Jolie

Where: Italy

Thar she blows! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie joined the ranks of celebrity yacht owners like Oracle founder Larry Ellison and Donald Trump, dropping a cool £70 million (or approximately $137 million US) on a 240-foot, triple-decker boat. The Italian-built tub reportedly contains six bedrooms, a gym, swimming pool, helicopter pad and even its own submarine for underwater exploration. (Apparently Maddox's lobbying for a Starbucks went unnoticed.) They'll be able to pick it up at the Privilege Yard outside of Rome sometime in 2009. C'mon Brad, put a giant yacht Wii in for the kids will ya?

Brangelina's latest purchase may sound extravagant, but in the world of celebrity yachts it's pretty medium-sized. Sure, it's a market where the likes of Diddy and Jay-Z can afford to rent, not buy, but their houseboat-away-from-home would never make the Power and Motoryacht magazine's list of 100 biggest yachts, nor can they compete with state-owned yachts like Dubai's disco palace or Qatar's 42-member crew. That's just Brangelina's way of staying in touch with the rest of us -- kind of like the way Angelina allegedly leaves her children in studio day care, despite having four nannies.

It must be noted, however, that Brad is a repeat yacht offender -- although his last yacht purchased with then-wife Jennifer Aniston cost a mere $5.7 million. The new boat will be built in Civitavecchia, a town 50 miles northwest of Rome that is used as a major cruise line gateway to the city.
