Eat Like Paul Bunyan

March 26, 2007 at 11:06 AM | by | Comments (0)

Everybody knows Paul Bunyan, the legendary lumberjack who cleared the north woods of the Midwest with his blue ox Babe, never really existed. But you will believe in tall tales again after you belly up to an all-you-can-eat meal at Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty in Minocqua, Wisconsin.

While several towns including Bemidji, Minnesota, and Oscoda, Michigan, claim to be the birthplace of the larger than life woodsman, the shanty's $8.49 all-you-can-eat breakfast is the only one that might actually be able to feed Bunyan. (Kids 12 and under pay 69 cents for each year of their age.) With a full belly you may look more attractive to the captive animals at Jim Peck's Wildwood Wildlife Park nearby, but take refuge at The Waters of Minocqua hotel -- it may be too cold to enjoy northern Wisconsin's gorgeous lakes, but that's what indoor water parks are for.
