Take a Peek at RECCE

March 21, 2007 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

There's a new magazine online that might just make reading about travel as fun as traveling itself. RECCE, with its noble subtitle, "Literary Journeys for the Discerning Traveler," is headed up by travel writer extraordinaire Don George, most known for his gig as (until recently) the Global Travel Editor for Lonely Planet.

RECCE is, in case you were wondering, an abbreviation of either reconnoiter or reconnaissance (they can't seem to decide which), which basically means it's a magazine about journeys. Not just any old "weekend in Florida" journeys, of course. George has picked the best of the best: famous travel writers like Jan Morris and Pico Iyer grace the first issue, and the photo portfolio is full of incredible views in Patagonia. Don George himself warbles about an expedition he once took through the northern area of Pakistan in his introduction to the new project. It's a promising start, so keep an eye on RECCE during those in-between-trip phases that can otherwise get you down.
