Tiptoe Into Keukenhof

March 19, 2007 at 10:35 AM | by | Comments (0)

If you want to tiptoe through the tulips this spring--and the best fields of tulips in the world, at that--you'll be plenty pleased to hear that the Keukenhof gardens in the Netherlands are about to open for the 2007 season, which runs from March 22 to May 20. At Keukenhof they plant no less than 7 million flower bulbs in all kinds of amazing arrangements to satisfy all your flower fetishes. You'll find them south-west of Amsterdam, near the town of Lisse.

Along with the regular flower beds and different sections of the park, there are always special exhibitions. This year the theme of Sweden gets a good going over:

The theme of Dutch-Swedish relations will be further developed with a wonderful flower mosaic of Pippi Longstocking, measuring 11 x 16 metres, as well as a number of inspirational gardens designed by Swedish magazines. A famous Swedish home furnishings store has financed the lay-out of these gardens

But the famous Swedish home furnisher obviously didn't pay enough to get its name mentioned on the website. Just the same, for your overdose of Dutch flowers with a twist of Sweden, get to Keukenhof this season.
