Train Snobs Flaunt Self-Proclaimed Good Taste

The somewhat snobby Society of International Railway Travelers has just released its definitive list of the world's best 25 trains. A few of them are the luxurious kind that few of us could ever imagine click-clacketing along on, but others were the kind that impress us as big adventurous trips.

Needless to say, then, the Trans-Siberian Express rated a mention, along with the romantic-way-to-Venice Orient Express. Difficult-to-pronounce trains also made it, such as the El Transcantabrico in Spain; Australians were very proud that three of their epic train trips, the Ghan, the Indian Pacific and the Sunlander, all made the list.

So if you think you could agree with this group's taste (IRT members describe themselves as "intelligent, experienced travelers who prefer the comfort, romance and fun of going by first-class trains worldwide"--we did say they were a touch on the snobby side), grab a train ticket and ride.
