There's More to the OC than Reality Shows

Who knew? With great weather and plenty of coastline, opportunities to get active abound. Airports like LAX, SNA and LGB are all within striking distance, so stop talking about snow and go west.
When you get there, don't settle for surfing. Liburdi's Scuba Center in Costa Mesa can set you up Cousteau-style and get you diving. The best part about Liburdi's--other than its location in what could be the coolest mall in California--is the dive shop's giant swimming pool. The thing is deep and fitted for diving, so you can practice your ear clearing and hand signals in style.
Liburdi's offers group classes for $300, which is actually a pretty good deal. Problem is, those classes are scheduled more for residents than visitors. For another $100, you can set up a crash course to get certified in only a few days. And if you're already packing a C-card, you can hop on a boat with Liburdi's to scope the dive sites near Catalina Island.
