Skybus: Perfect for Buckeyes Fans

December 4, 2007 at 12:00 PM | by pbb | 3 Comments

Speaking of Skybus, the Columbus-based carrier is capitalizing on Ohio State's recent nomination to the BCS National Championship Game against LSU in New Orleans on January 7. You can normally find advance tickets on Skybus for under $100, but on January 4 and 5, one-way flights from Columbus to Gulfport-Biloxi International--which is 76 miles from the Superdome--are selling for $300. The return trip will cost you much less.

Other airlines can fly you from Port Columbus International to the actual New Orleans airport--just 14 miles from the Superdome--for a bit less, but you'll have to endure a stop or two. Then again, you won't have to drive back to Biloxi through Tiger country while distraught over a Buckeye loss.

    Buckeyes

I have tolerated your jabs at my beloved skybus, but leave my beloved buckeyes alone.

I live in CMH and have flown skybus three times -- all very positive experiences. I flew to Portsmouth and San Diego with my wife and child for $120 total for the three of us each trip. And people aren't stupid -- Portsmouth is a great airport and we went to New Hampshire and Maine for our vacation this summer and had no problems. Others on our flight back took the bus in to Boston and had a great experience. San Diego is a loss.

I also flew to Richmond for Business and paid $180 roundtrip.

We're heading back to New Hampshire next weekend for a Christmas trip and to Punta Gorda in January... I'm flying them in APril to LA for a conference. I didn't try to get the cheap flight to LA since it's on the company's dime and I want to help skybus out.

Their business model works for me and I agree with most of their decisions. It's not for everyone but I'm happy they are here in CMH.

    Good

I'm not a football fan at all, but I'm glad to see Skybus showing some love for the locals in Columbus. They're a great asset for our city.
