Travel Gear Tested: The PamBee Travel Set

HotelChatter editor Juliana gave the PamBee Travel Set a try. Her verdict? It's Jaunted Approved.

I hate flying. I hate it with a passion. I love hotels and travel but I hate flying. And I don't think I'm in the wrong here. About the only people who do like flying are those cock-eyed optimists over at Jet Lagged.

Thus, due to my hatred of security lines, drafty air cabins, crying babies, rude flight attendants and gruesome airport delays, I'm a sucker for any small comfort on a flight.

I'll pack a mini-backgammon/chess set in case of delays or boredom, whichever comes first. I stuff my carry-on bag with magazines and my tattered book of crossword puzzles. I pack three tubes of lip balm in case I lose one or two under the seat. Same can be said for packs of gum, tissues and tubes of Airborne.

But the PamBee Travel Set gives me more comfort than all that stuff.

This girlie accessory comes with a silk eye mask, a silk blanket with suede lining and a silk-covered inflatable pillow. The set was designed by a former stewardess who wanted to create a product for flyers that was luxurious and compact at the same time. Aside from pure comfort, you can avoid having to use airline-issued blankets and scratchy white pillows. [Ed. note: Thank God.]

Yet, there is one use for those pillows. The travel set comes in a 12.5 inch-by-9 inch pouch and once you remove the eye mask and the blanket, an airline pillow fits right inside; you don't even have to blow up the included inflatable pillow.

I tried this set on a red-eye from Los Angeles to Miami and everyone was super jealous of my silky gear. I even used it when I crashed in the gate waiting for my next flight. I bought the solid blue (Antigua) set from Flight 001 for $88 but if you really want to throw your store-bought comfort in the face of other passengers, opt for one of the loud Pucci-esque prints. Or hit up the PamBee site for a leopard print set, if that's your thing.
