Infections aside, the crowd brightens up when Chris March returns. The costume designer was axed the week before but now gets a second chance to prove himself, which he does.
The challenge for the designers this week was to create an outfit for women who have lost tremendous amounts of weight from their old fat clothes. One includes a nasty banana-colored blazer and another woman has a gigantic, frothy beaded wedding gown for designer Steven to work with. A challenge indeed.
Things get dreary and gloomy again when Steven's creation walks down the runway which Nina calls a French maid outfit and which Michael Kors calls a funeral outfit, prompting him to call it a dress for a "French maid at a funeral." So Steven is out and designer Christian, who can turn out great clothes but somehow reminds us of a friend's annoying little sister, wins the challenge.
About the only light part of the episode happens when Tim Gunn talks about the bad mistakes he made at 3 am. All the designers assume he's talking about sexual conquests--but he isn't. Then he gets what they were all giggling about and says, "I'm such an old fart." But an old fart with style, Tim.
