Where to Stay: Honestly? Anywhere you can find a room. You're not the only person headed to see the game. We liked the Hotel Monteleone when we stayed there in July. The New Orleans tourism board has a booking engine that can search hotels specifically for their proximity to the Superdome. If you can't find something online, give 'em a call (800/543-6652) and ask for help.
NB: Since the Sugar Bowl is played on New Year's Day, you'll probably have to book at least the nights of December 30 and 31.
Getting to the Game: Just walk. Unless you're staying out by the airport, there's no reason you can't hike to the Superdome, which is about a mile from the French Quarter and even closer to hotels in the Central Business District. Remember: It's legal to walk around town with drinks in hand!
Watching the Game: If you can't get tickets--or don't wanna drop hundreds of dollars on them--you can still find plenty of places to watch the action. Needless to say every bar in town with a TV will have your game on, but a couple are worth seeking out. For general game-watching, the Old Absinthe House has plenty of TVs and plenty of strong drinks, but don't upset the bartender by ordering a sazerac. (We're still not over that.)
Georgia fans should head to Carrollton Station on Willow Street, where they'll find other 'dogs fans. Buckeyes fans should head to the Morial Convention Center on Sunday, January 6 at 3 pm for a big pep rally. And LSU fans should be holding impromptu rallies in every bar in the city--Baton Rouge is only 80 miles from New Orleans.
