Jaunted Giveaway: We Loved Your Stories

Last week, our Sirius Radio Contest wrapped, and we got some killer entries. We asked to hear your road trip stories, and you didn't disappoint with tales of breakdowns, "smokables" and "freaks in a clown bus."

Today, we bring you our two honorable mentions. Terri managed to make it to see Roger Waters, despite the best efforts of her buddies. And Anastasia endured about all you could imagine to make it to a Mike Doughty show in Chicago.

Tomorrow, we'll bring you our runner-up entry before revealing the big winner on Wednesday.

Honorable Mention for Anastasia:

I won concert tickets and a chance to meet singer/songwriter Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul Coughing). The concert was in Chicago, a four hour drive away.

My husband and I invited a friend along, and off we went to the show in a beat up car that leaked oil, had one headlight out and, yes, had expired tags. But what did we care? It was MIKE DOUGHTY!

We found our way to the O'Hare Airport parking lot and hopped a train into town. We'd never been on a train before, nor had we been to Chicago, so it was exciting! And, unsurprisingly, we got lost.

We finally arrived at the concert, late, and didn't get a chance to meet Doughty. The show was awesome though, and we did get meet him and get an autograph afterwards.

After we got back to the car at the airport, we realized we didn't have enough money to get out of the parking lot. Scrounging around the car, we dug for pennies to try to raise the five dollars to freedom. Finally, by a few cents, we made it! We thought we were home free...

Or so we thought before meeting a toll booth and an angry worker who doesn't like it when out-of-towners don't have the 75 cents required! Then our smoking wreck drew the attention of the police. We were pulled over, questioned about our broken headlight and smoky car, then let go with no ticket!

Just when we're thinking the trouble's over, a state trooper pulls us over. My husband is arrested and taken to one town, while my friend and I hitch a ride with the tow truck guy to anther town, where our car was impounded. We waited eight hours in a gas station phone booth for friends to come and pick us up. My husband was booked and released, so he spent his eight hours in a small town police station... But still, it was MIKE DOUGHTY!!!

Honorable Mention for Terri:

It was my first concert and road trip, to see Roger Waters/Radio Kaos Tour at Great Woods in Massachusetts. My neighbor Jimmy and friends had a psychedelic painted bus with bunk beds, kegs and all the smokables in the world!

The trip lasted a good three hours since Great Woods is in the woods. With the long drive and the beer, we all had to piss like race horses! We pulled off the highway to relieve ourselves; at least 15 people wandered off deep into the cover of the trees.

I was one of the last ones to exit the woods when I realized the bus was taking off. So there I am, chasing it with my pants down around my ankles! I stumbled a bit and chased it a few feet more before they stopped. Needless to say, there was laughter from all when I climbed onto the bus!
