Catch a Train or Grab a Pint

Most of us head to a train station with the sole intention of catching a train, but some tips from the UK Times this weekend have given us another idea. You can also head to the train station for a drink or two.

All these years when we've been dragging our luggage along to board a long-distance train at the last minute, we've been missing some of the best bars in the world, like the new Champagne Bar at St Pancras Station in London, all flash and new in honor of the Eurostar departures there. At 315 feet in length it's now Europe's longest champagne bar.

Other great train station bars include the Orient Express Restaurant along the platform where the great train leaves from Istanbul, the grand Le Train Bleu at the Gare de Lyon station in Paris or, for sheer amusement value, the old Irish Bar at the Kazansky Station in Moscow. The Times makes mention of a plastic tortoise sitting amongst the dishes there, but we're not sure if it only appears after a few too many vodkas.
