Gossip Girl's Bizarre Love Triangles

Visit our Gossip Girl Map to plan your next birthday party. Don't forget the fine diamonds!
Leave it to Blair Waldorf to abruptly change course and throw a seventeenth birthday party that was actually rather age-appropriate (except for all those shots, of course). This week's episode of "Gossip Girl" was titled "Seventeen Candles," an obvious homage to the Brat Pack classic in which Molly Ringwald reenacts Murphy's Law in her life. And that's pretty much what happened at Blair's party (but at least nobody gave her panties to a geek).
Blair spends her birthday-eve going to confession (even though she's a WASP), calling Nate, picking out expensive jewelry and trying to forget she lost her virginity to Chuck in a limo last week after performing at his burlesque club. Jenny decided to drag her adulterous mom (who looks just like Serena's mom--creepy!) back to Brooklyn to have a capital-T Talk with Rufus, which actually goes well once she and Dan have left for the big bash.
Because Blair's Unnamed Asian Sidekick picked the location, her party has a Japanese theme complete with anime, sushi and what we think were probably sake bombs. (The sidekicks dressed up as Sailor Moon... So 1997!)
Dan decided to bring Vanessa to the party so she and Serena could get to know each other, which they did after battling it out Guitar Hero-style. Blair lost a bet to Chuck when Nate failed to show, but he soothed the pain with diamonds.
Actually, we were kind of proud of Nate this week, so we'll throw him Prep of the Ep. We know he and Blair will eventually get back together, but he stood up to his parents' prodding to use his ex to convince Momma Waldorf that Captain Archibald is still a good business partner despite those pesky embezzlement charges. Instead, in his soft slacker way, he told them to take a hike and then took a hike away from the party with Jenny.
