Starting October 17, the Pumpkin Show plans to host 400,000 visitors for an extra-long weekend of fun and games. The whole thing got started back in 1903 when the town's mayor thought it'd be a good idea to invite a few folks to show off their gourds in front of his house. While a lot has changed since then, a parade, carnival games and rides and good, clean Midwestern fun are still the centerpieces of the Show.

In other words, you won't be drinking in the streets. Fortunately, you can indulge in another vice: eating yourself stupid. Dig into one of the 23,000 pumpkin pies that are sold during the four-day event--including one that's six feet across--or pick up a few of the 100,000 pumpkin donuts that get fried up.

Getting There:
Since Circleville is just south of Columbus, we have to name-check Skybus. It's too late to score a $10 ticket into town, but you still can't beat the cheap seats. Once there, drive down to town and pack this parking map. You'll know you're close when you spot the water tower painted like a pumpkin.
