Pink and Vincent Gallo Hit Up LA Weekly's Detour Music Festival

On a random whim, we hit up LA Weekly's Detour concert festival in downtown Los Angeles. This was the second year of Detour, which closes off a few blocks of downtown near city hall and sets up four stages for 20+ bands and DJs. The whole shebang ran from noon to midnight and was headlined by Bloc Party.

We showed up around 4pm and caught the last few songs from The Deadly Syndrome. Then we headed down to see The Cool Kids and later the Noisettes. The lead singer from this last band, Shingai Shoniwa, is our new hero. Anyone who can wear gold diapers and still look hot while singing and rocking on guitar is simply the best. That's the Noisettes playing above. We soooo wish we had a shot of gold diapers.

We also heard a bit of the Shout Out Louds and despite spying Vincent Gallo in the crowd, we thought the set was disappointing. They just looked and sounded tired.

We had another celeb sighting in the cocktail area where we saw Pink. She was wearing a long orange dress with a strip of see-through material in the back just below the waist: We got a clear view of her buttcrack. And no, we don't think she was wearing underwear.

Things we liked about the festival? A beer garden, the opportunity to meet some artists, relatively cheap and stress-free parking (it was $8 and one block away from main entrance) and--during the day--it wasn't crazy crowded.

What we didn't like? You could only have your cocktails or drinks in special drinking areas, meaning you couldn't watch a band and drink at the same time. Also, young teenagers must have slipped in some drinks in their backpacks as we spied a few of them puking publicly. It was almost as bad as Pink in see-through.

The Deadly Syndrome

The Deadly Syndrome are a great new band with a stellar new album, The Ortolan. They rip your face off, in a nice way.
