For some reason, Zoom Airlines founder John Boyle thinks "the EasyJet of the North Atlantic" is a good way to tout his airline. Then again, when he's competing all-business-class fliers like Silverjet, Maxjet and Eos, maybe he wants people to know that trips between New York to London can be had for next to nothing. (We're talking $400 round trip.) Just don't expect the same service you'll get on one of the other trans-atlantic specialists.
One of Zoom's tricks is that you don't have to spend a Saturday night at your destination to get a cheap fare. And according to one reviewer, the airline keep costs down another way:
They don't have the seatback entertainment systems. It's one screen at the front showing only one channel (films). As I can't sleep on planes, this would be a problem for me.
Zoom's been flying from JFK to Gatwick since June of this year, and so far the airline only offers one flight a day. But they've served Canada-UK flights for years, so they know the drill when it comes to international routes.
