Who wouldn't want to fly an airline with a name like SpiceJet? We are off to book our ticket right now, and we don't care where the plane's going.
But if you're the kind of traveler who wants to know the destination, we can tell you that SpiceJet is an Indian low cost carrier that used to have the far less exciting name of ModiLuft. (We're happy they changed it.) Curiously enough it doesn't own that many aircraft, so leases the extras it needs from Dutch LCC Transavia.
Current SpiceJet flights are all within India, including major destinations like Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, plus a dozen other cities. While the website doesn't advertise any startlingly cheap fares, a random search for a Bangalore to Goa flight next month turned up a price that worked out at $13 each way, so SpiceJet clearly fits the budget mold. How long until the Spice Girls fly SpiceJet?
