
The space was designed by architect Richard Meier and is pretty spectacular with diners able to peer into the chef's kitchen. John Millei artwork is displayed on the white walls and on the backs of the menu. However, the dining chairs (designed by Ray and Charles Eames) are a little too office boardroom for us.
Our server was probably the wittiest in the bunch which was refreshing because in Beverly Hills they can be pretty snooty. Lucky for us we thought everyone here was friendly and attentive.
As for the food, you can't go wrong with anything on this menu, so we'll just tell you what we ordered. Just make sure you bring enough cash. We started with the organic asparagus and poached egg in a warm bacon vinaigrette ($17). That was followed by the American wagyu/angus "Kobe Style" beef filet mignon ($60).
We also had the sauteed spinach with garlic ($12) which after a few bites turned out to be a little too garlicky. Then we finished up with an apple tart ($14) and a cappuccino. Needless to say we were still full through the next day.
Sadly, we saw no celebs! But someone had the gall to bring not one but two children (approximate ages 6 and 8) who fell asleep in one of the booths. Ugh.
Insider Tip: If you can't get a reservation for Cut, try to snag a seat at Sidebar where they serve the full Cut menu. Elsewhere in Sidebar they serve an abbreviated Rough Cuts menu as well as movie-inspired cocktails such as Crash and Lost in Translation. Come to think of it, is "Crash" really a good name for a cocktail?
