Caribbean Now Closer Than Ever

The World Series is over and there's a snap in the air. Which means only one thing: Time to start booking your high season getaways to the Caribbean. We've already told you about JetBlue's new service to the Dominican Republic and St. Maarten, and Skybus could announce routes to the Bahamas at any moment. In the meantime, other airlines are announcing heaps of new fun-in-the-sun nonstops.
Fortunately for us, Michelle Higgins at the New York Times has a massive round up in this week's special Caribbean-only travel section. Boston is a great place to leave behind, with new flights to Aruba (on JetBlue and American) and the Dominican Republic (on JetBlue). Delta is expanding its non-stop offerings from Atlanta to include Trididad and Tobago, Bonaire and St. Kitts. American is adding service from JFK to St. Lucia.
Other islands are getting new service, too, which should make it easier to duck away for shorter trips. (Previously, getting to all but a few islands took forever, with transfers to puddle jumpers gobbling up hours.) But as Michelle reminds us, don't forget that now-madatory passport. If you (inexplicably) still need one, we've got some tips.
