Television Travel: Hide Your Face With "Gossip Girl"

Visit our Gossip Girl Map to master the art of disguise.

Trick or treat! No self-respecting Upper East Sider would bother going door-to-door on Halloween; instead, this week's episode of "Gossip Girl" showcased a traditional masquerade, without a Fun Size Three Musketeers Bar in sight! Blair planned a ball-time scavenger hunt for boyfriend Nate, with her deflowering as the prize, but Serena is forced to take a blind date when she hears another woman's voice on Dan's line. (That's his old flame Vanessa, re-entering the picture from parts unknown. Do the phones on this show not call outside New York City?)

Meanwhile Jenny sneaks into the masquerade to dole out some vigilante justice to Chuck, who thinks she's some "hot bitch from Chapin," and to mightily confuse Nate who, thinking she's Serena, confesses his dizzy attraction to her.

We weren't a huge fan of the adult subplots on "Gossip Girl" at the start, but the circuitous courtship of once-lovers Lily van der Woodsen (Serena's mom) and Rufus Humphrey (Nate and Jenny's dad) gives us a little frisson of delight.

Lily has to be the Prep Of The Ep: She convinces Rufus to be her date to Eleanor Waldorf's Moroccan-themed party because she knows her ex will be there with a trophy girlfriend. Rufus--still in love with Lily--even gives her a kiss to remember (and gets the ex's attention). Lily was almost last week's P.O.T.P., but then she got all sentimental. Now we know where Serena gets her swagger.
