NYC Travel: Take A Metropolitan Monday
Got a case of the Mondays? New York City's in-house tourism agency is here to help--or to tempt, depending on how many vacation days you have left this year. The Sunday Stays program offers extra discounts for visitors who choose to stay over on Sunday nights this fall. Hotels both posh (Le Parker Meridien) and pedestrian (the Marriott Marquis in Times Square) are offering room discounts, free parking and occasionally "welcome" cocktails, after which visitors could catch a Broadway show or explore Club Row.
And while the New York Times says Sundays in the city have that "more relaxed, just-between-us-New Yorkers feeling," they're even better when you don't have to call it an early night to rest up for work on Monday. Bonus points that brunch is much less of a scene on Monday mornings than it is on the weekend.
As much as we here at Jaunted advocate taking off as many Mondays as possible, work days in the city mean testing commuters' patience if you surface during rush hour. Here's a hint: Don't take your too-heavy-to-lift rolling suitcase on the subway at 8 am.
