When Renting a Van Gets Wicked

Where: Australia
October 22, 2007 at 9:15 AM | by amandak | 3 Comments

Budget travelers looking for a good way to get around that vast continent they call Australia need look no further: we're sure that driving a Wicked Camper is the only way to travel. These guys suggest that instead of taking buses and sleeping in hostels, or buying a car to circumnavigate the country, you'll be much better off hiring a Wicked van.

These camper vans come complete with a kitchen, surprisingly large bed, camp stools and table, CD player and, if you choose the Wicked Air model, air-conditioning. The best part is that no two Wicked vans are quite the same. With their really, really loud paint jobs, these vans kinda give the mixed message of "leave me alone" and "talk to me, I'm interesting," which is exactly what you want on a long trip.

    Ah Memories

You're right that "no two Wicked vans are quite the same." I rented one when I was studying abroad in Brisbane a few years ago. Superwoman here is tame. We arrived to pick up our van and had two options left: One featured a topless woman with a whip and the other had a closeup image of thonged womens' behinds.

We selected the dominatrix and set off for Byron Bay. On one hand, the van was insanely cheap and had a giant mattress in the back big enough to sleep five girls. On the other hand, it didn't go into fifth gear or reverse, and the, ahem, artwork, elicited a lot of unwelcome honks and propositions.

Some are a bit too wicked ...

Yes that's definitely true. I drove past the Wicked depot in Northbridge (Perth) last night and must have seen your dominatrix's twin sister. But if you're lucky enough to get a really cute one you might get some welcome propositions instead :-)
