Airport Security Still Laughable

Security screeners at two airports missed more than half of the fake bomb components carried through checkpoints last year, says a USA Today report. At LAX, TSA screeners missed 75% of the items and agents didn't find 60% of the contraband at O'Hare. Private security agents who work at San Francisco International did better but still failed 20% of the tests.
If there are any excuses, its that testing has gotten much harder, says the TSA:
The Transportation Security Administration's special operations division devised the testing to raise the stakes for airport screeners and test whether they can spot bomb parts.
Officials say that this doesn't mean airports and aircraft are less safe. Using the kind of logic only government suits can conjure, a TSA spokeswoman says the failures are misleading because screeners are better at finding bombs than they were a few years ago.
Look, we're not saying the job is easy. But if we have to endure invasive security procedures, those same checks should actually prevent explosives from making it onto planes.
