JetBlue Expanding Caribbean Routes

Just in time for winter, JetBlue's opening up two more destinations in the Caribbean: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and St. Maarten. The airline will add one flight a day between each destination and JFK starting in January.

According to JetBlue, one-way fares start at $109 for the DR and $159 for St. Maarten, but you'll probably be paying more. We plugged in a trip to SXM for January 17, returning January 21, and all-in the total was $691.55. American Airlines and United are flying the same route for around $500--almost $200 less.

We had slightly better luck with flights to the DR. A Thursday-Monday weekend in January goes for $464.80, all-in. You can get tickets on American for $359. Hey, at least JetBlue has that seat-back TV.
