Boston Hoax Initiated By Adult Swim Cartoon

Travelers and locals alike may have noticed that traffic in Boston was more brutal than usual today.

In marketing scheme that reeks of Lindsey Naegle, Turner Broadcasting decided to put a bunch of circuit-board devices under bridges and highways all over town to project an illuminated Err, some stupid character from the Cartoon Network's Aqua Teen Hunger Force when the time was right.

Of course, the ever vigilant Bostonians sniffed out the plot and authorities smashed most of the devices. While traffic was backing up and this scary scene was playing out on local and national television (even CNN) did Turner Broadcasting rush to set the record straight? Hardly, but hours later, according to published reports representatives did help Boston officials locate the remaining devices.

They are part of an outdoor marketing campaign in 10 cities in support of Adult Swim's animated television show 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force.' They have been in place for two to three weeks in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Austin, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Parent company Turner Broadcasting is in contact with local and federal law enforcement on the exact locations of the billboards. We regret that they were mistakenly thought to pose any danger.

Two or three weeks? Jeesh. Well, hats off to Boston for finding and smashing these devices first. Those visiting Boston needn't be worried--eagle eyed Bostonian's are on the scene.
