Continental Prez Clubs Voted 'Best'

January 22, 2007 at 4:14 PM | by djk | 0 Comments

Readers of Global Traveler Magazine just voted Continental into the "Best Airport Lounges" winner's spot in the mag's 2006 survey. There are tons of surveys and ceremonies like this every year, and you can probably find most airlines in the top spot somewhere, for something, like best unsalted peanuts offered by an airline serving Gary, IN. Global Traveler won't let us non-subscribers access the whole article online, but we're interested in hearing more about the criteria, if any, for the category.

We enjoy Continental's lounges, and they have a reliable lounge network for a U.S.-based airline. But you mean to tell us that someone out there thinks Continental's Presidents Club at IAH is fancier than the Virgin Upper Class club at Heathrow? Clearly there's more to this story.

The LoungeGuide wiki has been lacking lately, but you can still head there for pictures and info on some global lounges, including Continental's. As for the rest of Global Traveler's awards, one that makes perfect sense is Emirates' win for best first class. We haven't flown it, but just know that has to be deserved. In fact, the flash demo on Emirates' site is certified seatporn. And we look at it. A lot.
