New Google Earth Officialy Released

Google Earth 4.0 was officially released this week.  While most of the new features have been out in beta versions of the earth software for months, the final release includes, but is not limited to:


* 3D Models: GE 4 supports a new format which allows for models which have textures. mproved 3D viewing
* New Look: Cleaner, less cluttered.
* Regions: GE 4 supports very large image overlays which can be "tiled" or "regionated" so you can view the full detail as you zoom in.

Oh, and with all the GPSes now supported can a Google mapping device

Most importantly, on first glance, Google Earth 4 appears to add even more lowest level satellite imagery.  For instance, the Maldives archipelago appears to have clearer photos, especially in the island groups furthest from Male.

Oh, I know, you are shocked we checked out the Maldives right away.
