Low Overhead on Overhead

Looks like the ban on liquids--and trouble with carry-on bags in general--isn't all bad. Many airlines are reporting that boarding times have quickened, since there is no longer a mad rush for overhead compartment space. US Airways says that boarding has decreased by five to ten minutes per flight; pretty remarkable when you think about it.

However, something tells us it won't last. Really, if everyone else is too nervous to bring their bags on-board, and the lines at security and to get on the plane are shorter, isn't now the best time to bring a bag you'd otherwise try to check? Taking your collection of hair mousse isn't the best idea, but otherwise you should be in the clear.

I assure you, the ban IS all bad. I'm morally opposed to checking bags, and I haven't done so in years. I'm going to California for a day and Maine for a day soon. Both trips, I've decided I'm just going to shower on my day of departure and proudly return home with greasy hair the next morning. Absolutely dreading the inevitable day when I MUST check in :(

Yeah, it seems sucky to me too. For longer trips, I can suck it up, but going greasy is only tolerable for so long...
