Let Sleeping Dogs Lie (at the Hotel)

We've always thought that those "Do Not Disturb" signs on hotel room doors meant something relatively R-rated was going on inside. But in the UK, Travelodge hotels are recommending hanging up the sign when leaving your cat or dog alone in the room.

Or maybe something is going on. The Travelodge chain has just announced it is giving pets their own luxury bed. And it's a replica king-size, two-and-a-half feet long and two foot wide, complete with pillow and a pretty blanket. You can bring up to two pets, although you do have to add ten GBP per animal to the bill. Once they develop opposable thumbs and learn how to order room service, our pets are going to have a better holiday than us.

Add to this recent research that shows 80% of pet owners give birthday and holiday gifts to their pets, and you can start to wonder who's really running this world.
