Air Turquoise, Adieu!

Air Turquoise, a French low-cost carrier barely one year old, stopped flying on July 19. After flying its first route in June, 2005, Air Turquoise utilized Reims as its base through the end of June, 2006, at which point the airline transferred its base to Vatry.

According to flycheapo.com, Air Turquoise was France's second low-cost airline. It flew between its Reims (and then Vatry) base and Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, and London Luton.

While these aren't the most exciting routes, Air Turquoise did fill an important role. The airline linked Paris-proximate airfields to Bordeaux and Marseille, something that no other budget airlines currently do.

Air Turquoise offers this statement as a clarification of its state of affairs.

The airline joins flywest (2004-2005), the first French low-cost carrier, in the low-cost carrier graveyard.
