Ryanair Broadens Routes: More Morocco, Plus Pula & Deauville
Ryanair has been in a major Morocco mood lately, the result of a five-year agreement with the Moroccan government to establish "up to 20 routes" between Moroccan destinations and various other points in the Ryanair network.
Yesterday, Ryanair announced Luton-Fez and Luton-Marrakesh routes. These will build on previously announced routes between Fez, Marrakesh, and Oujda and Ryanair hubs in Europe. While Marrakesh and Fez are tried and true tourist destinations, Oujda is a bit of a departure.
In the same press release, Ryanair announced Stansted-Pula and Stansted-Deauville routes. Pula will be the sole Croatian destination for Ryanair. Deauville, for those unfamiliar with Normandy, sits roughly between Le Havre and Caen.
Pula, perched at the southern tip of the Istrian Peninsula, tends to be overlooked by most tourists, who are largely focused on points south.
Deauville appears to be a bit of a snooze at first glance. Then again, if horse-racing, gambling, and beaches packed in the summer are your cup of tea, have at it.
Ryanair's pattern of flying to airports in less popular corners of Europe has very often had dramatic effects on local real estate markets. With this in mind, residents of Deauville, Pula, and Oujda might consider themselves lucky or cursed right about now.
All routes begin October 31.
