How to Make a False Passport

July 25, 2006 at 9:48 AM | 0 Comments

Hey kids! Wanna get into the fake papers game? We know you do. Don't worry, it's not quite as sketchy as it sounds. According to Cool Tools, making a fake passport to carry around town is the best way to ensure that the real thing doesn't get lost when you're traveling to a third world country, (or certain parts of Detroit after dark) by being able to keep the original safely in your hotel room.

Sounds great, right? All you need is a color copier--to photograph the pages, including the covers--glue to hold it together, and a laminator. Presto, a passport of your very own to fool all the bank tellers and nosy hotel concierges that stand between you and what you want. According to the U.S. State Department, making a color copy of your passport for this purpose is A-OK, since it's not an official document. That said, isn't finding a laminator hard? If freshman year of college is any indication, that part might be a problem, but it's still going to be easier than obtaining a new passport if you lost the old one in the wilds Krgyzstan.
