It's nigh impossible for us to put away computers down go offline. Our biggest fear is lack of Wifi when we travel--and that fear is often realized.
Finding Wifi in airports is one big concern in particular; your T-Mobile hotspot will not work in the Starbucks at the American Airlines terminal at LAX, and JetBlue's free Wifi at JFK is persnickety. Lo, Shibby Internet kiosks were born. Some poor traveler desperatey wants hop online before boarding the plane, where internet access is but a pipe dream--except on Lufthansa--and Shibby is the only option.
When Shibby was first introduced in 2002, we hear that they only charged 25 cents a minute. Well, nowadays at the Denver International Airport Shibby has the balls to charge $4 a minute.
There are other Shibby billing packages, including $15 for one hour. Still, if you have your own computer and you get Wifi, you can pay $9.95 to use an AT&T wireless service that's good for 24 hours. If your layover is that long, though, you have other problems beyond Wifi.
