San Fracisco Shuffleboard Bar

Where: 2575 Mission Street [map], San Francisco, ca, United States, 94110

Table shuffleboard is a classic bar game. Grab a beer, grab a partner and start sliding pucks--simple, yet mindblowing.

Alas, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find a decent bar with a decent shuffleboard set up, at least here in the States. Thankfully, Doc's Clock on Mission St. in San Francisco fills the void.

Aside from having continuous shuffleboard opportunities, Doc's Clock is one of our favorite bars in EssEff because it is always full of interesting people. However, even if you don't like people, you can play shuffleboard all night while slowly getting drunk--if there is a person who doesn't like the sound of that scenario we have yet to meet 'em.

Why has bar shuffleboard become as endangered as the Florida Manatee? We have no idea, but if you want to help save bar shuffleboard by telling us about other holes in the wall that offer this classic game, by all means, drop us a note.

    If your in the area...

If you ever find yourself in South Bend, IN, there is a great shuffleboard table at a little bar called the Green Star which is at Miami St. and E. Indiana Ave. I play in a Tuesday night league that my friends and I, a bunch of 20 somethings, created a few years ago. We're up to 18 members and have a blast playing. The season ends with a big double elimination tournament. The bar, which usually draws an older crowd, appreciates us and caters the event which usually lasts from 10am till dark. The bar is full of great people, the wait staff and bartenders are top notch, and the shuffleboard is well kept. If you do go be sure to ask the bar keep to use the good pucks which are kept behind the bar and if the board needs resurfacing they have plenty of wax and polish on hand.

    shuffleboard

Actually the shuffleboard world is nation wide. There are tournaments in the US every month. State championships and national championships. The biggest being in Reno the first week of Nov. every year. The next national is the 4th of July tournament in Del City,Ok. For more information check out the TSA(table shuffleboard assocation) webb site. When I travel I get a  list of bars in the towns I go through and try and stop by and play. Great way to meet people with the same intrest.
