Maybe L.A. Looks Can Open a Boutique There?

Is Seaside Heights actually transforming into, horror of horrors, something more upscale? The town was a veritable construction crane festival in the town over the past year. Babe's Corner Deli, which burned down two years ago, is back and doing whatever it is they do there better than before. Also slated to open this year are the Sea Palace Inn and the somewhat lasciviously named White Pearl Motel.

Far more terrifying, however, are 200 luxury condos finishing construction, with 44 of them to ready this summer. Average cost: $500,000. Just think! A Sub-Zero fridge for your cases of Natty Lite; marble countertops in the bathroom, prefect for displaying your many varieties of chest wax; and ample closet space for your silk shirts. Clearly, each and every one of those units are worth the five hundred grand they cost. To summarize: Upscale, but not classier.

Remember, if you want to spend you summer on the Jersey Shore, don't forget to check out, and contribute to, our New Jersey Beach Houses map.
