Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice for $500 Bucks a Night

Rest assured ladies, the Girlfriend Getaway meme will never die. After crowning Oprah queen traveling companion according to an online poll, Budget Travel has released their top 40 packages for ladies weekends. While the deals are a definite improvement on some of the early iterations of these weekends we've seen--the MenoPAUSE! getaway is blissfully absent from this list--they're still a touch single-minded.

Of the forty packages, very few of them focus on anything other than spa treatments, manicures/pedicures, shopping, or diet foods. Especially if you count sugar-free red bull as a food, as the Exchange Hotel in Manattan seems to do. Still, there is something for everyone in this round-up, even a someone who finds the idea of sugar-free Red Bull appealing.

We'll single out the package that's the least girly, which is, oddly enough, in Fort Worth, Texas. The Doral Tesoro Hotel and Golf Club offers one night in a double room for $395 with poker lessons, mechanical bull-riding, tickets to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and a bucket of longneck beers. That's the real spirit of a ladies weekend, don't you think?
