All the Young Dudes

Forget girls getaways--men need help constructing guys weekends, too. Luckily, there is new help for the strong of jaw and light of wallet. National Lampoon offers Spring Break packages to Vegas and Cabo, and Stuff Magazine is soon to launch Stuff VIP Travel. Think of all the new places you can get alcohol poisoning now!

To be fair, NLT and Stuff VIP cater to slightly different segments of dudedom.  The National Lampoon Tours are package deals. For $349, you can get four nights at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, three squares a day from the buffet, and, most importantly, unlimited open bar.

The package sounds like it's in the groty spirit of the eponymous books and films. The Vegas Plaza is for oldsters, and NLT guests are ferried to the Strip each night, where they can skip the line to a pre-selected club. Sadly, NLT doesn't seem to offer any lessons on picking up the ladies.

Stuff is launching a more of an Expedia for silicone lovers. Through their site, Stuff VIP Travel, you can book adventure weekends, plan parties, even buy entrances into a wide variety of mono-named nightclubs (Hiro, Pure, Opium, Light, Concorde). The press release describes their packages as "aspirational", though we'd describe them as "places that we have little to no interest in visiting".

Wait, can we amend that? They are offering tickets to Def Leppard, with special guest Bryan Adams. Tempting.

Only time will tell which theory of guy-travel will succeed; whether young men want to enjoy themselves in slightly seedy climes, or spend a lot to look good on their dream vacation. We know which one appeals to us--we'll see you at the open bar.
